UK Eurovision hopefuls admit the real reason they are doing song contest

UK Eurovision hopefuls Remember Monday have admitted they “couldn’t deprive” bandmate Charlotte Steele of the opportunity to appear in the contest since she is a lifelong fan. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk ahead of the London Eurovison Party they admitted they were fans of Eurovision but Charlotte is a super fan and they simply “couldn’t deprive her” of the opportunity. Speaking in unison Holly Anne-Hull and Lauren Byrne said: “We couldn’t deprive Charlotte of her dream.” Charlotte chimed in: “I don’t think they would ever do that as my best friends, I don’t think they could ever say no.”

While they may have been inspired to say yes to the opportunity thanks to Charlotte’s fandom they all agree:”The fact that we are now on this global stage honestly blows our minds every day. We’ve been a band for a really long time and we’ve been best friends for even longer and I think we we’ve always just thought we would do this.”

The girls will take to the stage in Basel on May 17 with their song What The Hell Just Happened? in the hopes of being the first UK act to lift the Eurovision trophy since Katrina and The Waves with Love Shine A Light in 1997.

Their epic song has drawn comparisions to music legends Queen and the trio confess this was deliberate rather than a happy accident.

“It was actually (intentional). We were we we found out that we were the Eurovision act before we had the Eurovision song, so we were writing a load of songs to present as options.

“On our reference sheet we had things like Chappell Roan… Sabrina Carpenter, but then there were things like Bohemian Rhapsody and Defying Gravity,” they revealed.

“We threw everything and the kitchen sink at it. We just mixed all of our favorite things and we were like yeah!” they said.

The resulting track tells the story of the dreaded morning afer the night before and the ladies admit it is “quite autobiographical”.

“It’s about our friendship and nights out that we’ve had and (how) when one of us is down, the other two will be there to lift them up.

“It means so much to our friendship but hopefully also other people can relate to it. (We think it’s) very relatable.”
