Every year, you’re likely inundated with a ton of chocolate. So much that you don’t know what to do with it, and can’t even comprehend eating it just as it is.
When you’re contemplating what to do with it, though, have you ever considered doing some Easter baking? It can entertain you, and you’ll certainly enjoy the fruits of your labour. And, what’s more, if you’ve got kids, they can get stuck in with it too and help you.
There’s nothing better than a gooey brownie to satisfy your sweet tooth, so Rebs from Great British Bake Off 2022 shared a delightful recipe that should persuade you to get in the kitchen and get creative.
Showing off the brownies she’d made, they were laden with different colours, shapes, and textures of Easter egg chocolates she had left over.
“This is the perfect way to use up your leftover Easter eggs,” she shared, saying that the brownies were “fudgey”. She also added that they were “a great way to use up the odds and ends of chocolate lying about after Easter”.
To make the brownies, alongside your leftover Easter chocolate, you will need:
Once you’ve got all the ingredients together, you can start baking – and first things first, you need to preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Then, you should break up your Easter egg into smaller chunks so it’s more like broken chocolate block pieces. Add the chocolate and butter to a bowl, and microwave it for two or three minutes, stopping to stir it regularly until it’s completely melted.
Whisk the eggs and sugar together until they’re “very thick, like a milkshake” and then fold in the chocolate and butter mixture.
The flour and cocoa then needs to be sieved in, and then put into a lined dish or tray. You can then top the brownie mixture with any other leftover chocolate you’ve got, and bake for 28 to 33 minutes, “until the top is cracked and it no longer wobbles in the middle”.
Even though it’s tempting to tuck straight in, Rebs said you should wait until the brownies have completely cooled. Then you can “cut into squares and enjoy”.
In the comments, someone wrote: “Holy c**p these look good,” as they tagged a pal they wanted to make them with.
Another joked that they would “sample them for you” as they looked delightful.
“They look delicious,” another person complimented the ideal way to use up those leftovers you’ve got.
