Manchester United somehow tasted a 15th Premier League defeat of the season as Wolves staged a 1-0 smash-and-grab on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils, heavily rotated after Thursday’s chaotic victory against Lyon, dominated proceedings, but Pablo Sarabia’s late free-kick was the difference.

Express Sport runs through the United player ratings from Old Trafford…

Man Utd player ratings vs Wolves

Andre Onana: 6

Could have brought his bed to Old Trafford and had a kip; he had that little to do. Wolves didn’t even threaten to test him on a day United were there to get at.

Noussair Mazraoui: 7

A welcome sight in Ruben Amorim’s back three after his half-time withdrawal against Lyon due to a personal emergency.

Victor Lindelof: 7

His Old Trafford farewell tour continues. Captained a heavily rotated side and contributed to not giving Wolves a sniff.

Tyler Fredricson: 8

A surprise debutant but looked like he was making his 100th appearance. Read the game expertly, so assured in the tackle and displayed a solid passing range. There should be more minutes on the horizon for the 20-year-old.

Patrick Dorgu: 8

Really solid outing on the right. Won 10 of his 14 duels and drew three fouls. Produced a range of inviting crosses, but no one looked like getting on the end of them.

Manuel Ugarte: 6

His energy and tenaciousness muted Wolves, who have shown strong signs in transitions in recent weeks. Replaced on the hour mark to get some rest.

Christian Eriksen: 6

Another player whose pinpoint passing went unanswered by United’s mediocre attack.

Harry Amass: 8

Shone brightly on his first Old Trafford start. Looks a real talent in the final third.

Alejandro Garnacho: 7

A real menace that didn’t deserve to draw a blank. He drew three fouls with his lightning-quick dribbling and created three chances, one of which was begging to be dispatched by Rasmus Hojlund.

Kobbie Mainoo: 5

Couldn’t build on his crucial contribution against Lyon as part of another toothless attacking display from United. More minutes in the legs.

Rasmus Hojlund: 3

United need a new striker. Doesn’t get many chances, but also doesn’t help himself with movement and anticipation that are nowhere near the level required at this club.

Substitutes

Diogo Dalot: 5

Did nothing of note in his 30-minute cameo.

Bruno Fernandes: 6

There was no chance he wasn’t making it onto the pitch at 0-0.

Mason Mount: 4

Missed a glorious chance.

Chido Obi: 5

A first start is surely coming.

Leny Yoro: 6

Won all of his aerial duels from the bench.
