Wetherspoon fans have ‘so many questions’ as worker shares how breakfa

From its weekly steak club to its ramen dish that is said to “rival Wagamama”, Wetherspoon is known for its wide range of budget-friendly food and drinks.

The Wetherspoon breakfast menu is another highlight, offering everything from a classic full English fry up to American-style pancakes and vegan options, all served on their iconic blue and white patterned plates.

If you’re a regular at the pub chain, you’ll probably be aware that many of the items on the menu are cooked in the microwave, fryer or grill, rather than prepared from scratch to order.

But fans of the pub chain have been left baffled after finding out how one particular breakfast staple is prepared.

A video previously shared by TikTok user @dobbysc00chie in 2022 shared the secret behind Wetherspoon’s perfectly round and uniform poached eggs.

The TikToker, who worked at Wetherspoon at the time, revealed that the poached eggs are poached ahead of time, rather than cooked immediately before being served.

They wrote: “Explaining to a customer that they can’t have poached eggs as they’re pre-poached and are out of stock.

“I actually never told customers they were pre-poached, I just flat out said no, or offered fried eggs instead.”

The revelation left viewers baffled, with one user commenting: “”Pre poached”?? I have so many questions not sure if I actually want answers though.”

Another asked: “HOW DO YOU PREPOACH AN EGG?! while a third wrote: “How tf do u get pre poached eggs.”

“This explains a lot,” said a fourth. “I was SO confused when I was told they had no poached eggs and would I like fried?”

Meanwhile, another commenter revealed their method when faced with this situation, writing: “I just say the poacher is broken and they just agree.”

Another user, with experience of working at Wetherspoon, said: “the highlight of working a spoons breakfast shift.”

“Tbf I think a lot more places do this than ppl realise,” a different commenter theorised.
