Scrambled eggs will be ‘perfectly light and fluffy’ in 75 seconds without a pan

They’re the perfect, quick and easy protein packed pick-me-up, but scrambled eggs can be fiddly and create some tough washing up when you have to use a frying pan.

That’s why time-pressed cooks are increasingly turning to a 60-second scrambled eggs recipe that doesn’t need a frying pan at all – just a humble microwave. It turns out that as well as fried eggs and bacon, microwaves can also be used to whip up the perfect, fluffy scrambled eggs in as little as 75 seconds.

According to Good Food, all you need for this recipe is two eggs, a microwave and some milk. That’s it. It couldn’t be simpler, according to the food experts.

First, use a fork to beat the eggs with two tablespoons of milk in a jug. You can also add a pinch of salt here if you want to. Then stick in the microwave on the highest wattage setting you have for 30 seconds.

Beat the eggs again, then return them to the microwave for another 30 seconds.

Then, take them out, beat them once more to break up any lumps and zap them for another 15 seconds. They will now be ready to serve, but if you prefer your scrambled eggs a little firmer, you can put them in for 15 second increments at a time to firm them to your liking.

This trick is backed up by AllRecipes, which says microwave scrambled eggs are ‘light and fluffy’ every time, although it suggests using 30 second intervals rather than 15.

It says: “These light and fluffy scrambled eggs are made in the microwave for a quick and easy breakfast to start your day. Follow the technique in this easy 3-ingredient recipe for perfect results every time.

“Looking for irresistibly fluffy scrambled eggs that are ready in mere minutes? Your microwave is the key! Don’t believe us? Just try this top-rated recipe for microwave scrambled eggs.

“Crack the eggs into a microwave-safe bowl or mug, then mix well with milk and salt. Heat the eggs in the microwave for about 30 seconds, remove and beat well, then return to the microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat until eggs are fully cooked and scrambled.

“Every microwave is different. The process could take anywhere from 1 minute to 2.5 minutes. Just be sure to microwave in 30-second intervals and to beat the eggs between every interval – this way, the eggs will scramble evenly and won’t be overcooked.”
