Queen Camilla’s son has revealed that his mother is not part of the family WhatsApp group for a hilarious reason.
Tom Parker-Bowles revealed that staying in touch with his mum can be quite a challenge as she is often busy with royal duties. He says he often calls the Queen but receives no answer.
Food critic Tom said he often switches on the TV and finds his mum is jetting away somewhere with her husband King Charles. And, despite being in their 70s, Tom said the King and Queen are “busier than ever”.
In a chat with Woman and Home magazine, he mentioned that his mother can carry out up to 30 engagements a day. He added: “She’s working a lot harder.
“She’s always worked quite hard [so] it’s still the case of, I ring my mother, she doesn’t answer, I look on the television [and think] ‘Ah! She’s in Jersey’.”
Woman and Home asked Tom if he keeps in touch with his sister and mother via a family WhatsApp, to which he revealed her phone is too “old-fashioned” for the messaging app.
He said: “We do – my children, my sister, and my cousins – but my mum still uses an old-fashioned Nokia telephone, [so] she can’t. I think it’s for security.”
Tom, who has appeared as a judge on MasterChef, stated that his mother’s accension to the throne hasn’t affected their family dynamic, adding that family life has always been a priority for 77-year-old Camilla.
Tom Parker Bowles recently discussed how his children have adapted to their grandmother Camilla’s relationship with King Charles.
During an appearance on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend, he shared something rather endearing: “The children, of course, don’t really know any different. So ‘Uppa’, as they call the King, they’ve grown up with this man that they all love and think is wonderful.”
Tom, establishing a blend between his Royal ties and profession, authored a culinary book titled ‘Cooking and the Crown’.
