Cleaning the hob in the kitchen is always a satisfying job, but it doesn’t stay clean for very long. After cooking just one meal, oil, grease and crumbs from the food can quickly mess up your hard work.

If they’re left to sit for any length of time, the problem becomes much more difficult to deal with. However, you don’t have to splash out on a pricey hob cleaner in order to tackle the job. According to one cleaning pro on social media, you can make your hob “shining” once again with just two simple ingredients.

Chantel Mila, known on TikTok as @mama_mila_, says her easy DIY cleaning spray can easily cut through kitchen grease and leave your hob, extractor fan or oven looking brand new again.

And all you need to say goodbye to those tough stains are two common products that you’ve probably already got in your cupboards.

According to the pro, the natural cleaning power of white vinegar and dish soap can work together to rid your kitchen of any mess.

Simply add half a cup of white vinegar to a spray bottle with some warm water, then a tablespoon of either washing up liquid or lemon juice.

Give it a good shake to combine, and then it’s time to tackle those tough grease stains. You can spray it on your hob, allow it to sit for a few minutes, then wipe off with a cloth or sponge.

You should find that the grease easily lifts off, leaving the surface “shining”.

And if you want to take it a step further, you can also take your hob rings off and spray the mixture into all the nooks and crannies, where it should do a similar job.

Take another cloth and scrub the parts until the grease, oil and crumbs have disappeared. Chantel added that this will make your kitchen look ‘shiny and deodorised’ in no time at all – so worth doing if your hob is in need of some TLC.
