A campaign group has staged the “world’s biggest anti-Elon Musk protest” by carving out a 250-metre long “Don’t buy a Tesla” message on a Welsh beach. A Tesla driver, named only as Prama, wrote out the 250-metre x 150-metre message by attaching a huge rake to the back of a Tesla Model 3, which was then driven around Black Rock Sands – Traeth y Greigddu – near Porthmadog.
British political campaign group Led By Donkeys staged the protest, claiming it is the “world’s biggest anti-Elon Musk protest”. A spokesperson for the group said: “Like thousands of others, Prama is selling her Tesla in response to Musk’s embrace of the global far-right.” The message was carved out alongside a silhouette of the Tesla owner from his speech at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony in Washington DC earlier this year.
During the speech, the world’s richest man made a gesture, which some alleged was a Nazi salute.
Mr Musk hit back at the accusations, saying on his platform X: “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”
Prama, who produced the message, said: “We used to joke that Elon Musk was like a real-life Iron Man, but then there’s so many things that have happened.
“He’s gone into becoming someone who is obsessed by power, and that’s really changed my view on him.
“When he started getting onto the tickets of the extreme far-right, that’s when I started thinking, ‘I’m not really sure I should be driving a Tesla’.
“When he started getting on to the ticket of the extreme far-right, that’s when I started thinking I’m not sure I should be driving a Tesla.
“Please, don’t buy a Tesla.”
Mr Musk is a closer adviser to the Trump administration and heads up the US’ new Department of Government Efficiency.
The protest by Led By Donkeys was held last Friday.
