Experts have revealed the home projects that will add value to your property with one simple bathroom trick that is fool-proof, with anyone being able to do it. DIY changes can add significant value to your home and some of these projects are super easy to do. Auction House London has analysed some of 2025’s top home design trends and which ones are the easiest to take on yourself. Among them is a handy bathroom trick.
Their study said that hardware and small furnishing updates that cost as little as £100 can add to “your home’s value by up to 2%, which could result in an increase of up to £5,000”. The study was released ahead of the stamp duty increase set to come into effect from April 1. To identify the trendy projects that people can take on themselves, Auction House London analysed TikTok’s Gen Z interior influencers, Pinterest data and Google search trends while also using their own expertise.
They say that panelling bathrooms is one of the trends that might add value to yor home in 2025. Panelling can be done by professionals, but there are simple ways to do it yourself at home.
Auction House London point out that there are easy to assemble kits from chain stores like B&Q. Social media has inspired “homeowners across the country to grab some MDF and create square or rectangular wall panelling themselves”, they said.
However, people wanting to jump on the trend should be careful because as with all trends, they go out of fashion eventually. With panelling, it has been in style for some time, so some people are ready to move on from it.
But panelling isn’t necessarily out. According to the study, people are now opting for more natural panelling styles similar to what is found in Edwardian and Victorian homes.
Wall panelling is perhaps one of the most accessible DIY trends. In B&Q, panelling kits can be purchased from less than £20, with larger sets costing just over £100.
For panelling in particular, Auction House London’s expert say that this minor change could add around £2,000 to the value of your home.
