New weather maps predict that the UK could be hit by a huge blizzard next week as snow engulfs the country. The weather data provided by WXCharts.com shows snow covering the country on 25 March with as much as 7cm settling in some areas. White and purple dominate the maps with snow threatening to stretch from the northern most part of Scotland as far south as London.

A Met Office long-range forecast for the period warns of turbulent weather but stops short of predicting snow, although the agency does regularly update its advice. The forecast said: “Into the following week, unsettled conditions will probably continue across many parts of the UK.

“Some heavy rain or showers are possible at times, these most likely across southern parts of the country.

“Temperatures are likely to be widely above average at the start of this period before probably falling back and then fluctuating around average for the remainder of the period.”

Temperatures for the time period could have a huge bearing on how disruptive the freakish weather could prove to be.

Whilst the Met Office warns that temperatures will be around average for the period, data from WXCharts.com suggests that this might not be the case.

The most recent data from the weather experts shows a wave of blue sweeping across the country, indicating that temperatures could be between -10 and -3 degrees Celsius.

According to the maps, the whole of Scotland will be hit by snow whilst the vast majority of the north of England will also be blanketed.

The Yorkshire Dales could be the most seriously affected with as much as 7cm predicted to settle in the area by midday on 25 March.

Elsewhere, snow will settle down the spine of the country, with central areas as far south as Northampton anticipated.

Northern Wales and the south-east of England is also likely to be hit by snow whilst the south coast is more likely to see rain throughout the day.

It is anticipated that is the wintery weather does come to fruition, it will be the last of a winter period that has seen heavy snow and serious weather warnings throughout the season.
