Oven and hob stains will melt away if cleaned with 1 natural item

Cleaning the oven can be one of the most frustrating chores in the home, but it can be done quickly if you use the right product. Oven stains are tricky to remove because food splatters harden when exposed to heat, baking into the surface and forming a tough, greasy layer that won’t come off, no matter how much you scrub.

However, the experts at Emerald Cleaning Solutions have revealed that the best way to clean an oven is also the simplest – and all you need to a packet of soda crystals. They said: “You might find stubborn stains inside your oven and on your hob from old spillages and a build-up of grime. By following a few simple steps, soda crystals can transform your oven.

Soda crystals are a natural substance known to be highly alkaline which can break down the tough acidic stains in the oven like burned food, oil and grease.

It works by softening the baked-on stains and then dissolving the greasy build-up to make it much easier to wipe away instead of scrubbing at them for hours.

Many people online swear that white vinegar and baking soda will clean an oven but it is unlikely to actually work.

White vinegar is great on limescale or mould stains but cannot break down grease. Baking soda is alkaline and can work but is not as strong as soda crystals so will not be as effective.

Soda crystals tend to be the best natural way to clean an oven and are cheap to buy from the cleaning aisle of most supermarkets such as Tesco or ASDA for only £2.

How to properly clean an oven with soda crystals

All you need to do is fill your sink halfway with warm water and then pour around 250g into the sink as well.

Remove any oven racks from your oven and disks from your stove, then leave them to soak while you are cleaning.

Next, fill a large basin with 200g of soda crystals with 500ml of hot water. Then, wait for the soda crystals to fully dissolve and do not touch until the water has cooled down a little.

Open the oven and sprinkle soda crystals over any stains inside or on the door. Once the water is safe to handle, use a sponge to wipe down your hob and the inside of your oven.

Leave the cleaning solution for roughly an hour to give the cleaning solution time to break down the grease.

When the time is up, dry your oven and hob thoroughly, then make sure the oven racks and stove discs are dry as well. Put everything back where it should be and your oven should be sparkling clean.
