Meghan Markle savaged over ‘relatability’ as duchess announces news | Royal | News

Meghan Marke was criticised over her “relatability” in regards to her audience following the release of her Netflix show. The Duchess of Sussex, who has also announced the launch of her luxury lifestyle brand As Ever, and her new podcast series with Lemonada Media – due to drop next month – stars in eight 33-minute episodes in With, Love Meghan.

The series, which premiered earlier this month, shows the duchess cooking up various dishes and revealing hosting tips and tricks to her Hollywood pals in a lavish rented mansion in Montecito, not far away from her own home with Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. With Love, Meghan received mixed reviews from viewers but was mostly blasted by critics. And now a property expert said that even though might have sparked interest in the Californian property market, its premise is not relatable to the average viewer.

Terry Fisher, of We Buy Any Home, told GB News: “For the average viewer, the homes and lifestyle shown in the series are far beyond reach.

“California already struggles with affordability, with median home prices significantly higher than most other US states.

“First-time buyers and middle-income earners often find themselves priced out of the market, particularly in coastal regions.

“So while the series will showcase the beauty and exclusivity of the region, it may also highlight the stark contrast between everyday buyers and the ultra-rich who can afford to live there.”

The expert added that while the luxury market remains “resilient”, there is still an ongoing issue with the housing supply for the wider population, and Meghan’s show simply reinforces the California dream, which is not realistic.

He explained: “Many buyers are looking beyond the state’s most glamorous neighbourhoods to find value, often relocating to more affordable regions or even out of state altogether.

“A show like Meghan’s may reinforce the dream of California living, but for most, it remains just that – a dream.”
