Meghan Markle has been warned about her next move in order to make her new podcast series succeed. The Duchess of Sussex’s new podcast series is expected to drop later this year. However a PR expert has raised his concerns over its outcome following the negative reviews about Meghan’s new Netflix show, which aired last week.
With Love, Meghan consists of eight 33-minute episodes that show the duchess cooking up various dishes and revealing hosting tips and tricks to her pals. But the show was mostly blasted by critics who described it as being “unrelatable”.
Last February the duchess signed a new deal with Lemonada Media for a new podcast series after parting ways with Spotify. It was understood that Meghan would host a new podcast show herself and that Lemonada Media would also distribute her previous series, Archetypes, to all its podcast platforms, which it since has.
Now, as royal watchers anticipate Meghan’s new podcast show to drop sometime in the near future after the podcast company’s post in January teasing new content, a PR expert has come out with a warning about the former actress and urged her to distance herself from doing celebrity-style type of interview and focus on a more “human” aspect instead.
Edward Coram James, a PR expert and chief executive of Go Up, told Newsweek: “The one thing that isn’t wise is leaning into interviewing famous people.
“People don’t actually like the fact she fled the UK to go and live with these people the British public perceive to be these glitzy Montecito types living in Santa Barbara.
“The thing that people always liked about Prince Harry is that he’s very relatable. He stands up to people the public care about, for instance wounded veterans, conservation efforts, the planet.
“Those are the kind of things people will get on board with. Whereas being perceived as the type who is rolling around with these A-list celebrities is not a good look and is not going to make her relatable, which is actually what she’s trying to achieve with this show.”
He added the best thing for the duchess is to “stop inviting famous people on” an start adopting some of her husband’s approaches.
