Duchess Sophie has been ranked as one of the most popular members of the Royal Family in a new poll. According to the latest YouGov poll of 2,231 UK adults from February 20-21, the Duchess of Edinburgh, 60, and her husband Prince Edward are seen in a positive light by the British people, with Sophie being ranked as the fifth most popular royal on 55% (net +42) followed by Edward on 53% (net +31).
The duchess, who just weeks ago returned to the UK following a royal trip to Nepal, ranked behind Princess Kate and Prince William (both 74%), Princess Anne (70%) and King Charles (59%). The surge in Duchess Sophie’s popularity has not been a surprise for royal fans, who over recent years have started to name the mum-of-two “Super Sophie”. Social media posts on the Royal Family’s official accounts of Sophie’s work are also often met with overwhelmingly positive responses, with many dubbing her their “favourite” royal.
This has been said even more so over the last year as Sophie, who married into the family in 1999, has stepped up numerous times for King Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment after being diagnosed last year.
The positive ranking this week also comes just weeks after Sophie and Edward returned to the UK following a royal trip to Nepal.
As reported by GB News, the trip proved to be a huge success for the happy couple, and even saw Edward make a sweet rare candid admission about his marriage.
When asked about their relationship, the prince sweetly said the couple are “best friends” as well as husband and wife.
Sophie agreed with this comment, later revealing how humour also plays a big role in their relationship.
As well as being loved by her husband, Sophie is also appreciated by other members of the Royal Family as a result of her work for the monarchy, with King Charles reportedly sharing a good relationship with his sister-in-law.
The duchess also famously got on very well with the late Queen Elizabeth II, and was seen as one of her closest confidantes.
