The UK is bracing for incoming rain and snow as a Baltic storm, which will bring temperatures of -9C, is due to hit the country.

New weather maps from WCHARTS have revealed snow is set to batter certain areas by up to 10cm as the temperature plummets.

Scotland will be the worst affected, with up to 10cm of snow near Ben Nevis and Glencoe and 17cm/hour in the Highlands on Monday, November 18.

Other areas of Scotland, such as Glasgow and Stirling will still see snow, though not to the same extent, with cover staying between 1-5cm.

In England, Northumberland is predicted to get between 1-3cm of snow, with the risk decreasing the further south you go.

Naturally, the snow will come alongside freezing temperatures, which are expected to reach -9C in Scotland and -3C in England.

The Highlands will see bitterly cold temperatures between -9C and -1C on Saturday, November 23. Edinburgh will plunge to -4C, Glasgow to -2C, and Dumfries to -1C.

The coldest temperatures in England are expected in Yorkshire, slightly further south than the snow in Northumberland. Areas around the Yorkshire Dales are predicted to get lows of -3C.

The same weekend will also bring rainy conditions for parts of England, most notably in the southwest, where weather maps have turned blue with the warning of showers.

Devon and Cornwall are due to see around 1mm/hr of rain. Specific areas that can be expected to be affected are Exmoor, Ilfracombe, Newquay, and St Ives.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast from November 12 to 21 warns of rainfall and unsettled conditions that could change quickly.

It says: “Likely still a good deal of dry weather during the middle of next week. Most areas should be largely dry with a good chance of sunny spells but also scope for overnight frost in clearer areas.

“The influence of high pressure is likely to decline through the course of next week with an increasing chance of showers or longer spells of rain, initially more likely in the east.

“However, there is currently significant uncertainty in how quickly conditions turn more unsettled. Thereafter, likely more mixed conditions conditions with some wetter, windier weather at times but also some drier interludes bringing the chance of morning fog patches. Temperatures overall around average though with potential for some rather cold spells.”
