Thousands of Virgin Media customers have been left without internet after a major outage hit the UK. According to Downdetector, which monitors online service statuses, over 1,000 users have reported issues with their broadband, with the majority of complaints emerging around 9am this morning.

The problems appear to be affecting fixed-line broadband, as well as streaming television services, with many frustrated customers taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their discontent. One user quipped: “Oh look, Virgin Media is on fire again. Must be the weekly outage.”

Another user slammed the company, saying: “Virgin Media will crumble, worst broadband in the country.”

Other customers reported that their broadband had “gone down,” or that their wifi was “playing up”. With over 5.8 million broadband subscribers in the UK, the outage has had a significant impact on many people.

Customers can check the status of their connection by visiting the Virgin Media website and logging into their account, where they can find the latest information on broadband performance in their area.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with their services. We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to fix this as a priority.”
