Meghan Markle insider breaks silence on controversial brand logo | Royal | News

An insider has released a blunt statement over the controversy surrounding Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle brand’s logo.

After launching her brand earlier this week, she was hit with accusations that the logo looks extremely similar to the coat of arms of Porreres, a municipality in Majorca. Francisca Mora Veny, the mayor of Porreres, is reportedly considering legal action and has called for the removal of As Ever’s logo.

But an insider has defended the duchess and stated it was “intentionally designed to create a unique and personal emblem”.

The logo features two hummingbirds and a palm tree, symbolising Meghan’s shared life with her husband of six years, Prince Harry. The hummingbirds used are a connection to the couple’s home in Montecito – as well as referencing a detail shared by Harry, 40, in his bombshell memoir Spare.

The palm tree also represents their family home in California, which is known to be a place surrounded by them.

The insider continued to tell Page Six: “As part of the process, comprehensive global searches of registered trademarks were conducted.”

Harry and Meghan currently reside in a multi-million-pound home in California with their children – Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. Revealing the name of her brand via Instagram on Tuesday, Meghan shared her new logo. The brand launch also featured a new picture of her young daughter.

In his memoir, Harry wrote that he had previously seen a hummingbird shortly after the death of his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Taking to his book, which was released in January 2023, he shared that he wasn’t sure if they were a “sign”. He wrote that “Aztecs thought them reincarnated warriors” and Spanish explorers called them “resurrection birds”.

After sharing how one flew over Lilibet’s playpen, which they called ‘Lili Land’, Harry wrote of the encounter: “I thought hopefully, greedily, foolishly: Is our house a detour — or a destination?”

Meghan previously shared in an interview in 2022, “One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees. See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.'”

The Duchess of Sussex also revealed that their son also greets the trees daily, saying, “Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.”

Meghan, 43, also revealed the launch date of her brand earlier this week via a post uploaded to her Instagram.
