Prince Harry was handed a special present last week at The Invictus Games competition in Canada to thank him for his work with ex-servicemen and women.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, was given a bracelet which had the phrase ‘whoever saves one life saves the world’ engraved on it.

The phrase is believed to have been a sweet nod to The Invictus Games, a foundation which was launched by the prince in 2014 to help veterans and service people from around the world recover and receive support.

The sweet jewellery item was gifted to Harry last week by Olga Rudnieva, CEO of a rehabilitation centre in Ukraine for adults and children called Superhumans.

Olga told Hello magazine: “We had a very good conversation with him because we need to learn a lot from other countries, and we gave him a tee-shirt and a bracelet that says, ‘Whoever saves one life saves the world.”

She continued: “We are from Ukraine, and he has been supporting the Ukrainian team here, and all Ukrainians have seen that and people are very, very overwhelmed.

“We wanted him to know that it’s important for Ukraine to know that he’s supporting us.”

The prince was in Canada for The Invictus Games for the duration of the tournament, which allows servicemen and women to take part in adaptive sports.

The competition kicked off on February 8 and ended on February 16, with Meghan Markle, 43, accompanying her husband, Harry, for the first few days of the games.

As well as being given the heartfelt bracelet, Harry has also been told numerous times about how the event and foundation itself has helped save lives.

In a sweet post on Instagram, his work and impact was also highlighted by Meghan, who flew home to California a few days prior the end of the event to be with the couple’s two children – Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

She wrote in a sweet post on February 14: “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families.

“Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.”
