The incredible Spanish village with homes as cheap as £29k | World | News

A gorgeous white village surrounded by stunning Spanish countryside with homes as cheap as £29,000 is begging for more tourists.

Located in the province of Malaga in the La Axarquia region Alfarnate is a small hidden gem village that is home to Andalucía’s oldest inn.

Sitting high above the rest of the region Alfarnate is the most spectacular of the Axarquia’s villages. With its narrow streets more than 900m above the sea level it’s officially the highest region in the whole Malaga province.

Surrounded by beautiful scenery and breathtaking panoramic views, it has a remote and romantic feel that’s easy to win you over. The local cafes serve gorgeous tapas, offering a taste of authentic Spanish cuisine.

The village is renowed for its festivals particularly the Patron Saint Festival in honor of ‘La Virgen de Monsalud’ which takes place from September 7 to 12. Captivating locals and visitors Alfarnate transforms into a sport, music and gastronomy hub.

Divided in two parts and separated by the river Sabar and surrounded by breathtaking mountains Alfarnate is nestled among the Enmedio, Palomera, and Jobo mountain ranges.

Inaugurated as the parish church in 1555, Santa Ana Church is Alfarnate most famous landmark. The majestic building is composed of three naves divided by pillars that hold up various pointed arches.

Alfarnate is home to just 1,046 inhabitants and has seen its population dwindle thanks to the younger generations moving to big cities in search of better job opportunities and a wider variety of career paths.

In a bid to boost its population Alfarnate has joined the Holapueblo initiative  which promotes the economic and social benefits of rural living.

If you can see yourself living in a village with incredible hiking trails whilst being surrounded by limestone mountains then Alfarnate may be the place for you.

And you can live here without breaking the bank. Rental prices range from £208 to £250 per month and you could snap up a home for just £29k.

If you are looking for more storage space and need a garage then 27 houses with these amenities are on the market from £62k.
