Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles at the weekend as they received two sweet gifts for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in Vancouver on Sunday for The Invictus Games, which Harry is founder of, when they received custom jerseys for Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, from Team Nigeria.

Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, aware also given their own jerseys to wear back at home, which they gratefully accepted after a wheelchair basketball event between the United States vs. Nigeria.

Nigerian team manager Derrick Cobbinah told PEOPLE: “We did one for him and one for M and for the kids.

“They said they would be excited to have them. She was very, very excited.”

He continued: “We are hoping she wears the jersey and sits with the family and friends and supports us later.”

This comment comes after the Duchess confirmed in her Spotify podcast Archetype in 2022 that she had learned she is “43 percent Nigerian” after taking a genealogy test.

Talking about telling her mum Doria the news, she said at the time: “Being African American, part of it is really not knowing so much about your lineage and background … and it was exciting for both of us.”

Meghan was also equally excited when she visited Nigeria last year with Prince Harry, where she referred to Nigeria as “my country”.

The couple have been in Canada since Saturday for The Invictus Games 2025, putting on a united and loved-up display.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, the duchess confirmed that the couple’s two children were not with them in Canada and instead were watching the games from the family’s home in California, where they have lived since quitting royal life in 2020.

She said they would be “cheering” their dad on.
