Lloyds Bank and Halifax customers were the latest to be hit by service outages after issues with their systems were reported on Monday morning.
Customers of both banks, which are part of the Lloyds Banking Group, had issues making and receiving payments when using their smartphone apps.
Customers took to X (formerly Twitter) to message Lloyds, voicing their concerns. This came just a day after rival Barclays fixed a two-day outage issue with its banking app.
Wayne Grills wrote: “Why have no payments gone into my accounts today? Yet Direct Debits have left. Once again, you have s*****d up and being radio silent.”
Sue from Lloyds Bank replied to Tweets: “We know some customers are having issues making or receiving payments. Please do not make the payment again.”
Lloyds Bank added: “We’re sorry for this and are working to have everything back to normal.”
Last week, Barclays suffered an outage on Friday that carried into the weekend. The bank denied it was a cyber attack, saying it was a “technology issue.”
Service monitoring website Downdetector reported issues with the Lloyds and Halifax apps at 7am on Monday, and several hundred people reported issues with the two apps.
PA reported that Lloyds has not issued a statement confirming the cause of the problem, but banks have replied to customers raising concerns on social media.
Halifax replied to customers who directly complained to its official social media account.
