Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall have been in Australia attending a major horse event – and Zara has now revealed what her family really thinks of the country.

The much-loved royal couple have been at the annual Magic Millions showjumping and polo event since the beginning of January.

This past week the pair have enjoyed the Gold Coast and participated in races alongside horse enthusiasts and several days of auctions.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Zara described her family’s love for the annual trip in nine words, stating “It is like a home from home for us”.

The talented equestrian star added: “We have always loved Australia…We have been coming to Queensland for so long now it has become a tradition for the start of the year.

“Although the Magic Millions carnival is busy with so much going on, being by the beach, with like-minded horse enthusiasts celebrating all things equine – we couldn’t ask for a better way to start the year.”

Zara also explained that the family loved escaping winter and coming into “the warm heat”.

The sports-loving pair first met during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003.

The two have been married since 2011 and have three children – Mia Tindall, 10, Lena Tindall, six, and Lucas Tindall, three.

Speaking of the Magic Millions polo event to the outlet, former England rugby star Mike said: “Being smart about leaving things to the experts is where I excel.”

He cheekily added: “Believe me, the best place for me is up close on the sideline cheering them on.”

Zara also got a chance to enjoy one of her favourite activities, taking part in a relaxed beach horse race alongside her fellow ambassadors, the Duke of Sussex’s polo-playing friend Nacho Figueras and his wife, Delfina Blaquier.

Princess Anne’s daughter has also found time to enjoy some shopping trips, last week visiting Budds Beach, in the heart of Surfers’ Paradise, to indulge in a bit of retail therapy.

Appearing in a promotional video for the Gold Coast shopping precinct, Pacific Fair, in Queensland, Australia, Zara cut a gorgeous figure in a breezy blue and white floral backless dress for her shopping day out.

The video showed Zara, 43, shopping with a friend, exploring the expansive mall and shops, and enjoying a glass of bubbly.

Zara opened the video facing the camera: “It’s great to be back in Australia and I’m here at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast, which is my favourite place to shop.”

As Zara and Mike are not working royals, they do not take money from the Sovereign Grant but fund their lifestyle through various brand deals.

In 2012, Zara was announced as the first Magic Millions Racing Women Ambassador. Magic Millions has been a regular fixture in Zara’s calendar since that year, when she became its patron following her Olympic silver medal win in London.
