PS Plus is losing one of the best games of all time in January

PlayStation Plus may be a fantastic subscription service with lots of great games, but it does suffer from one glaring flaw.

Outside of first-party games, titles on PS Plus are licensed for a set period of time, which means they can be removed at short notice.

This includes PS4 and PS5 game Resident Evil 2 Remake, which is leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in January.

Judging by the latest PS Plus predictions, Resident Evil 4 Remake could take its place on PS Plus Extra this month.

One of the greatest survival horror games of all time, Resident Evil 2 was first released on the original PlayStation back in 1998.

After being ported to various consoles over the years, Capcom developed a full remake for PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.

Arguably even more terrifying than the original, Resident Evil 2 Remake adopted the over-the-shoulder viewpoint popularised by Resident Evil 4.

It also features a variety of bonus content and additional scenes, all the while staying true to the original.

Capcom explains more: “Play individual campaigns for both Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield using an all new third person view as you explore the zombie infested areas of Raccoon City, now stunningly re-built using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine.

“New puzzles, storylines and areas mean both new and seasoned fans will find horrifying new surprises await them!”

Sadly, Resident Evil 2 Remake isn’t the only game leaving PS Plus Extra in January. In fact, it’s not the only iconic Capcom game leaving the service.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is also leaving PS Plus Extra in January. The Anniversary Collection contains multiple games in the series, including the very first game, Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3 and Street Fighter Alpha.

Other games leaving PS Plus Extra include Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4, as well as Life is Strange and spinoff Before the Storm.

That’s on top of Dragon Ball FighterZ, Legend of Mana, Secret of Mana, Hardspace Shipbreaker and Pure Hold’em.

As a reminder, the next wave of PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be revealed on January 15. The games will be playable the following week, on the morning of January 21.
