The house where Ann Widdecombe was beaten to death has gone on the market for £900,000.

The former MP and Daily Express columnist died on July 8 after she was hit over the head with a hammer 21 times at her five-bedroom bungalow in Haytor on Dartmoor, Devon.

An agent’s note in the brochure for the house reads: “A significant event occurred at the property in 2026, involving the unlawful death of an occupant. Further details can be provided by the agent.”

The detached chalet bungalow on the south eastern side of Dartmoor National Park includes five reception rooms, a heated swimming pool and wooden stable.

Miss Widdecombe reportedly had the pool built with money she made from her 2010 appearance on Strictly Come Dancing with Anton du Beke.

On Rightmove, the listing details a “spacious and light” sitting room with a “lovely outlook” over gardens and beyond.

There is also a four oven AGA, 26ft conservatory, a large dining room with parquet flooring and a fireplace with a stone surround.

The property lies off a “quiet” road within an “easy” walk onto the moor, facing south and surrounded by its gardens, which the agent’s listing note offer “peace and privacy”.

Since the former Conservative MP’s death at the age of 78, a sign bearing the name she gave her home – Widdecombe’s Rest – has been removed.

She named the property after settling in the hamlet when she retired from frontline politics.

The home was at the centre of a major police operation after Miss Widdecombe was killed while she was having lunch.

Extra security was set up at the house to deter people trying to take selfies at the crime scene.

At the time of her death she was a spokeswoman on immigration and justice for Reform UK. She was first elected as a Conservative MP in Kent in 1987, was a prisons minister in the 1990s and later became an MEP for the Brexit Party.

Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, was charged with murdering Miss Widdecombe on July 20. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court next year.

Mr Kerry was also charged with a terror plot against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. He is charged with one count of preparation of terrorist acts relating to alleged activity between May 31, 2024, and July 8.
