The Astros are telling folks they don’t expect to make calls on GM, manager and field staff until after the World Series.
Ex-Yankees coach Joe Espada has made the playoffs two of three years as Houston manager, but his tenure may depend on who’s hired as GM.
Yankees super scout Matt Hyde was not only the main scout for the club’s co-MVPs (not an official award) Cam Schlittler and Ben Rice but also originally advocated for the Yankees acquiring Padres October hero Michael King via trade from the Marlins.
Hyde, the Boston-based Yankees scout who knew King well from his Boston College days, later saw the Yankees reluctantly trade King as the main piece in the package for Juan Soto.
