The Giants might be head over heels for John Harbaugh.
At least Cam Skattebo was after Big Blue’s first touchdown of the year.
Skattebo waltzed into the end zone untouched on a 3-yard run to put the Giants up over the rival Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football” to cap off a drive in which he rushed for 11 yards.
Skattebo, after cruising to pay dirt, indeed brought back his signature celebratory backflip, landing it much to the delight of a raucous MetLife Stadium.
It marked Skattebo’s first chance to break out the move — on the field, at least — since his rookie season ended prematurely with a right ankle dislocation and an open tibia fracture against the Eagles.
Skattebo did a backflip this summer at Fanatics Fest in Manhattan, but he didn’t exactly stick the landing.
General manager Joe Schoen, at the time, wasn’t thrilled with Skattebo breaking out the move on the eve of training camp.
“The video shows a little bit about how good his rehab’s been, that he’s able to not land it and still be okay,’’ Schoen said, “but he knows I’d rather him not do that, especially this close to camp.’’
Skattebo told reporters after the fact that he’d stop doing backflips for the time being, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t bring them back once the games started.
“When game time comes around, we’ll see when game time comes around,” he said. “Right now, we’re focused on training camp. We’ll keep the backflips off the field for now.”
The time came around quickly to start the season.
