Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may not inherit Royal Lodge as Prince Andrew is set to lose his security team from today.
The Duke of York, 64, has been living at Royal Lodge in Windsor for years, and has had his security privately funded by King Charles since the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and subsequent sex abuse allegations.
However, over the course of the last few months, the 75-year-old King has been taking action to encourage his brother to relocate from the large Windsor home to a smaller property, with Frogmore Cottage reportedly being one of the residences offered to him.
While this home is only a stone’s throw away from Royal Lodge, Andrew is refusing to leave the £30 million property, which he signed a 75-year lease agreement on in 2003.
It is believed he hoped the property would eventually go to his daughters Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34.
However, if Andrew cannot afford to fund his own security team, the duke may have no option but to relocate to another royal residence, meaning that his two daughters – who have their own homes – may not inherit the home.
His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who also lives at Royal Lodge with him, is also likely to be required to move if Andrew leaves the property.
When news of the King’s decision to cut Andrew’s security came out a few months, a palace insider told the Sun on Sunday: “Everyone is speculating this means the Duke will have to leave the Royal Lodge because what other reason could there be to take his security away?’
“They are all working the final weeks of their contract till the end of October. It’s not thought anyone is being lined up to replace them. It isn’t a secret that the King wants him out.”
