Legendary defensive lineman Aaron Donald has now had an official workout with the Los Angeles Rams.
While the 35-year-old’s return to the NFL feels imminent after spending the past two seasons away, there are still some questions about how he’ll fare if and when he makes his return official.
But it seems that sports bettors believe Donald will quickly return to the dominant form he’d been in before retiring. This is shown by the fact that Donald currently has the fourth-best odds to win the 2026 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, being a +800 on bet385.
The wildest thing about this is how Donald’s CPOTY surge comes become he’s even a member of the Rams’ roster. Therefore, it’s safe to assume his odds will skyrocket even further if he does decide to re-join Los Angeles.
Donald is currently trailing three quarterbacks: Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes (who is working his way back after tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee last December), who is currently +185.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who also missed much of last season with injuries, is after Mahomes at +425.
Then Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray (who missed the last 12 games of last year with a foot injury) is at +550.
Donald has spent his whole career pursuing NFL quarterbacks and has strip-sacked Mahomes two times before. He’s now pursuing Mahomes in this major NFL award, and could pry it the Comeback Player of the Year award away from Mahomes if he proves that the two-year layoff only made him fresher and more formidable on Los Angeles’ defensive line.
