The California father who is believed to have executed his twin boys before turning the gun on himself also tried to shoot the children’s mother, it has emerged.

The suspect allegedly fired on his two sons, Joseph and Greysen Chavez, and then tried to kill their mother Jennifer while they were at the boys’ grandmother’s birthday in Canoga Park on Sunday.

He fired at Jennifer, but missed. The father then killed himself.

Officers scrambled to the residence around 7:15 p.m Sunday night and found the bodies of the 37-year-old father and his two children.

All three of them had gunshot wounds to the head, police said. Police recovered a pistol at the scene. The mother could be seen sobbing outside the home and was held by apparent relatives at the scene.

A GoFundMe has been posted with the kids pictured with angel wings in a photo modified by artificial intelligence. The fundraiser has raised more than $30,000 of its $55,000 goal in less than 24 hours.

“Our hearts are shattered as we try to process the loss of Greysen and Joseph. Anyone who knew these boys knew how special they were. They were funny, goofy, and full of personality,” the fundraiser says.

The boys “loved to make people laugh” and “brought so much joy into the lives of the people who loved them.”

“Most importantly, they were Jenny’s boys,” it continued. “They were her pride and joy, her whole world. No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child, let alone two.

“The grief and heartbreak Jenny is carrying right now are beyond words, and our family is doing everything we can to surround her with love and support.”

The fundraiser said it will use the funds to help “Jenny and her family as they take time away from work, manage household expenses, and begin to navigate life through this unimaginable loss.”

The father’s motive for the shooting is unclear.
