Samuel L. Jackson endorses Karen Bass for LA mayor

Samuel L. Jackson put out a very uncharacteristic monotone video for his endorsement of LA Mayor Karen Bass as her lead against Spencer Pratt continues to dwindle.

Bass called on her Hollywood pal to give her some star power as the former reality star turned mayoral hopeful surges in the polls.

The 77-year-old actor looked into the camera and repeated his lines about Bass, but his voice remained emotionless and he barely cracked a smile.

The Avengers star claimed the mayor “understands government” and the “needs of the people” during the clip.

Jackson said the times demanded someone who was willing to “go in the streets and gather the people together,” not “someone who will divide them.”

He then claimed that “Karen Bass is that person,” with no emotion or expression of joy in his face. At the end of the clip he said “Karen Bass for mayor,” and gave a half-hearted smile.

Bass posted the lackluster endorsement on her social media and said she was honored to have his support.

“Sam has always shown up for the people and causes he believes in – and I am grateful he is showing up for Los Angeles,” the post on X read.

“We’re aligned on the change I’m working to bring to L.A. That means getting more people off the streets into housing and connected with comprehensive services.”

She added, “It means more affordable housing units being built. And it means continuing to lower crime down to historic lows.”

Earlier this week, former soap opera star Lisa Rinna weighed in on the LA race — but seemed to be confused about the candidates while arguing that Pratt wasn’t the right person for the office.

Rinna appeared to mix up the candidates running for mayor with the ones in the race to take the spot of California governor when Gov. Gavin Newsom leaves office.

With the June 2 primary fast approaching, Bass has called in help from other celebrities for support, like basketball legend Magic Johnson as the polls show the incumbent getting some serious competition from Pratt and progressive LA Councilmember Nithya Raman for the job.

A recent Emerson College poll shows Pratt running a competitive campaign against incumbent Bass.

Bass is polling at 30%, while Pratt is in second place with 22% support. Raman trails at 19%, with 16% of voters still undecided.

On June 2, if no candidate secures more than 50% of the voters, the top two vote getters advance to a run-off in November.
