PS Plus January 2025 PS4 and PS5 games delay – Fans face a longer wait for free games

PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the reveal of the free PS4 and PS5 games for January 2025.

And it looks like fans could be in for a long wait, because the PS Plus games won’t be revealed until January.

Because of the way the dates fall, the next batch of PS Plus games are scheduled to be unveiled at 4.30pm GMT on January 1. The games will be available to download and play less than a week later, on the morning of January 7.

It’s great news considering the quality of the games, which are headlined by superb co-op game It Takes Two.

From the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out, It Takes Two is an adventure game with some fantastic puzzles, bags of humour and a heartfelt story.

With an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam, the game sees players team up to solve puzzles after being transformed into dolls by a magic spell.

It’s joined by the surprisingly good strategy game Aliens Dark Descent, which has an 88% user score on Steam.

“In Aliens: Dark Descent, command a squad of hardened Colonial Marines to stop a terrifying Xenomorph outbreak on Planet Lethe,” reads the official description.

“Lead your soldiers in real-time combat against iconic Xenomorphs, rogue operatives from the insatiable Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and a host of horrifying creatures new to the Alien franchise.”

Like many of the best strategy games, Aliens Dark Descent utilises a permadeath feature, which means that when your squad members die, they’re gone for good.

I always feel like this ups the stakes and increases the tension, especially when you lose a powerful member of your squad that has been there since the beginning.

Elsewhere, PS Plus Essential subscribers will also be able to download TemTem. Inspired by Pokemon, TemTem sees players attempt to tame upwards of 165 creatures across seven different islands.

Essentially a Pokemon MMO, you can also battle other “Tamers”, explore dungeons, build a home and breed creatures as part of this grand adventure.
