Kelly Stafford made one thing abundantly clear this week: She despises when people shorten her husband’s name.

In a Thursday night Instagram post, Matthew Stafford‘s wife let be it known loud and clear that the Rams star quarterback‘s name is not “Matt.”

“When people don’t know him, they call him Matt,” Kelly wrote on her Stories. “What gets me is that he’s been playing in the league now for close to two decades and people who have jobs reporting on it, still call him Matt.

“I find it highly disrespectful, but honestly kinda goes along with Matthew’s whole career.”

Matthew broke into the NFL in 2009 after the Lions selected him with the No. 1 overall pick, and throughout his time in the league, “Matt” and “Matthew” appeared to be interchangeable.

After all, signal-callers like Michael “Mike” Vick and Patrick “Pat” Mahomes have had no issues with the shortening.

But Kelly’s obviously hoping that trend stops now.

It’s not the only surprise Kelly shared during an Instagram QandA with her followers — she also revealed she had to stop recording her podcast last year because it was filling her with angst.

“What I don’t miss is the anxiety I used to get the night before every episode was released wondering what headline was going to be created from the episode,” Kelly said. “It just felt like my name was in the headlines every week and that is not what I wanted this podcast for. So that is a big reason why I took a break. I needed a mental break.”

She did, however, leave the door open for a return — and given all the insight she doled out on her and her hubby’s life on social media this week, it’s hard to imagine it wouldn’t be a popular listen once again.
