The Timberwolves’ paid a huge price in their Game 4 win over the Nuggets on Saturday.

In addition to losing Donte DiVincenzo for the year with a torn Achilles, star guard Anthony Edwards is out multiple weeks due to a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday morning.

While the 24-year-old avoided ligament damage, per the report, he is set to miss the rest of sixth-seeded Minnesota’s first-round series against the Nuggets, which the Timberwolves lead 3-1 after winning Game 4, 112-96.

After DiVincenzo got hurt less than two minutes into Saturday’s game, Edwards injured his left knee late in the first half as he landed awkwardly after attempting to block a layup attempt by Cam Johnson.

Edwards had to be helped to the locker room and did not return.

He finished with five points on 1-for-8 shooting with three rebounds in 18 minutes.

The silver lining for Minnesota is they’re one win away from advancing to the second round, while Denver needs to win three straight to survive.

Game 5 will tip off Monday night at 10:30 p.m. ET in Denver. If necessary, Game 6 would be Thursday in Minneapolis and Game 7 would be Saturday back in Denver.

Edwards likely would miss the start of the second round if the Timberwolves advance.

The winner of the Timberwolves-Nuggets series will play the winner of the Spurs-Trail Blazers series. Second-seeded San Antonio leads 2-1 entering Sunday’s Game 4.
