A Canadian tourist was killed and five others injured after a crazed gunman opened fire from atop a pyramid at the Teotihuacan ruins in Mexico Monday afternoon.
The gunman climbed midway up the Pyramid of the Moon around noon and opened fire at throngs of tourists below before finally turning the gun on himself, Mexican authorities said.
Two Colombians and a Russian were wounded. In total, three people were wounded by gunfire and two sustained injuries after jumping off the ruins, authorities said in a press conference relayed by El País.

The Pyramid of the Moon towers 140-feet over the Teotihuacan complex, the second most visited tourist archeological site in Mexico after Chichen Itza.
Authorities recovered a gun, a bladed weapon, and several rounds of ammunition, El País reported.
“I express my most sincere solidarity with the affected individuals and their families. We are in contact with the Canadian Embassy,” said Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, reported in Spanish by El Universal.
