Arizona men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd agreed to a new five-year deal to stay with the university on the eve of their matchup with the Michigan Wolverines in the Final Four, the school announced Friday.

The No. 1-seeded Wildcats are largely considered one of the top two teams in the country, along with Michigan, as Lloyd has whipped this program into a perennial contender each year.

There were rumors that Lloyd could bolt for Chapel Hill and become the North Carolina coach after the Tar Heels parted ways with Hubert Davis following multiple embarrassing tournament exits.

Lloyd ultimately resisted the North Carolina interest and will remain a Wildcat through 2031.

The contract is reportedly worth $7.5 million per year on average.

Lloyd is an incredible 148-35 with the Wildcats after taking over for Sean Miller after the 2020 season.

Arizona’s Final Four finish this year is its first since 2001.
