Multiple injuries have been reported in an active shooter situation at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.

The shooting took place just after 11 a.m. on Monday.

“Multiple injuries have been reported. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it is available,” Madison Police said in a statement.

The school has about 390 students, from kindergarten through high school, according to its website.

At least two people are dead and three others injured while the gunman is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, radio journalist Dan O’Donnell has claimed on X.

Abundant Life Christian School was founded in 1978 as a community Christian school, with its first graduating class in 1985.

Abundant Life has approximately 200 families from some 56 different churches in the greater Dane County area, including metropolitan Madison and its surrounding communities.

The 28-acre campus has modern facilities including a library media center, science & computer labs, an art room, band and music rooms, two gymnasiums, and a weight room.

According to the school’s website: “ALCS was specifically organized to offer students academic excellence in a Christ-focused context.”ALCS offers large-school opportunities in a small-school setting.

With smaller class sizes, a warm and respectful atmosphere, and a student body representing a wide variety of different area churches, there is a familiar face around every corner.”

The shooting took place a week before the school students were scheduled to go on Christmas break.

Students and staff have been transported to local hospitals, according to CNN.

Madison Police officials have urged people to avoid the area as roads will remain blocked off along 4900 Buckeye Road.

Authorities announced that the SSM Health/Dean Clinic near the intersection of East Buckeye Road and Stoughton Road will serve as the reunification area for students and parents.

“My sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School. I will continue to closely monitor the situation,” Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson posted on X.
