A pack of wild teenagers went on a rampage at a Bronx supermarket — accosting customers, punching a security guard and even ripping the hair out of a female employee’s head when she tried to stop them, The Post has learned.
The uncontrollable kids went on the terrifying spree of violence at the Allerton Key Food at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday — and are still at large after a melee that sent customers scrambling for safety.
“This is a supermarket. You come here to shop and you leave. I’m not supposed to have a customer covering her baby’s eyes,” Miguel Garcia, the store’s owner, told The Post.
The disturbing brawl involved five teens — four girls and a boy — who stormed into the shop on White Plains Road and started screaming.
The boy had been at the shop just 15 minutes earlier with another group, but left after he was scolded by a shopper whom he allegedly hit twice and was warned to “have some manners,” Garcia said.
Security footage captured the new group bursting through the doors, seemingly in search of the customer, before turning their ire on a security guard.
A teen squared up with the guard and demanded information on the “incident,” the video shows.
“The security guard told them, ‘I don’t know what you are talking about.’ One girl, without warning, went chest to chest with the security and hit him in the face,” said Garcia.
That’s when the head cashier — a 23-year-old college student — attempted to intervene.
“The head cashier told the teen, ‘You can’t do that.’ That’s all it took for the rest of the group to jump her. They started punching her and pulled out her hair. They broke her glasses,” Garcia said.
The video shows the group sending the employee to the floor as she desperately tries to defend herself.
The security guard put himself in the middle of the melee, but the relentless teens continued to rain blows on the young cashier.
Several shoppers raced from the violence, including one mother who covered the eyes of her toddler as she rushed to safety.
Other bystanders ultimately pushed the group of teens out of the store, and the group fled.
“When they came back, they came to fight. There was no reason for this,” said Garcia.
Police and an ambulance later arrived, but there have not yet been any arrests.
The NYPD is looking for four suspects, sources told The Post.
The head cashier, who has worked at the shop for five years, has taken the week off because she’s too shaken up to return.
“She’s still in shock. She’s still shaky. She’s scared,” said Garcia.
Another cashier who ran and hid during the brawl quit on the spot, Garcia said: “She said she can’t work here anymore.”
According to Garcia, teens have been pulling the same violent antics in other stores in the area, but have yet to be punished for the behavior.
“We are supposed to be essential workers. These people were here during COVID, serving the community. People had to eat and this is what we get?” Garcia said.
“I’m hoping something can be done because they’ll come back and do it again.”
Francisco Marte, founder and president of Bodega & Small Group, is calling on the NYPD to track down the “volatile, cowardly group of individuals.”
“It is incredibly frustrating — and frankly, exhausting — to see innocent people targeted for something they didn’t even do,” said Marte.
“We want there to be consequences for the perpetrators.”
