At this California resort, your skis practically put on themselves.
The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe describes itself as a location to find “unparalleled slopeside luxury” at the foot of a mountain.
The gigantic hotel property features its own lake club, lodge, heated outdoor pool steps away from the snow, a Mexican restaurant, and a full-service spa. It even has a Top Golf suite.
As part of the luxury, the hotel caters closely to its guests, according to a TimeOut review.
At arrival, the valet will take your car and unload your ski gear for storage until you need it. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, a concierge will even lay your snowboard or skis on the ground for you to snap in.
If you’re feeling particularly luxurious, you can begin your day with a glass of Veuve Cliquot and a caviar bump. The served places on the caviar on your hand, where you can lick it off.
For prospective skiers or snowboarders, and anyone else for that matter, the resort looks like a snowy paradise.
Chairlifts for the Northstar California ski resort is a short scoot away. When all trails are fully open, there are 107 across 3,000 acres. It also features 19 chairlifts, with two enclosed gondolas.
A sherpa snow-cat can also take resort guests to a mid-mountain nordic center where miles and miles of cross-country skiing trails begin. There’s also equipment there that can be rented if guests didn’t bring their own.
There are other perks too.
At the resort’s lake house, guests can row complimentary kayaks and stand-up paddle-boards when the water is unfrozen. They can also drink cocktails and artisanal hot chocolate with a spectacular view of the mountains displayed looming over the lake.
And when guests turn in for the night, they can place a wooden button into a hole corresponding to one of four aromatherapy mists, including one called the “Tree of Life.” Guests also can taste chocolates carefully placed onto their pillows.
Rooms at the luxurious snowy resort are expensive.
Prospective guests should expect to pay $639 per night in the off season and costs can climb significantly. A Northstar lift ticket costs $189 for adults and $132 for kids ages 5 to 12.
