Horrific footage captured the moment a mass shooting happened at a bar in Oakland, leaving two dead and five injured.
In the video a fight appears to break out, which results in gunfire outside EZ’s Lounge near 14th and Franklin streets, about a block from City Hall, as people run to take cover in a stampede.
The clip shows one man walk up to another and push him. A few seconds later, gunshots are heard. The man who started the push falls to the ground, pulls out a gun and fires several shots before fleeing.
The two victims were identified as 33-year-old teacher Latetia Bobo and 25-year-old Markise Martin, the father of an infant girl.
“Again, we continue to go down this path, seeing the violence that takes place downtown,” Huy Nguyen, president of the Oakland Police Officers Association, said.
Following the shooting, Carol Fife, an Oakland councilmember, also addressed the incident.
“The tragic shooting that claimed the lives of two innocent victims at EZ’s Lounge occurred at an after-hours, unpermitted, semi-private event unknown to the City,” Fife said in a statement.
“We will work diligently to ensure that there is accountability for all unlicensed entertainment operations in Oakland. The proliferation of guns is at epidemic levels. We MUST find ways to address all the firearms on our streets.”
Bobo’s school canceled classes in light of her killing, and the family released a statement.
“Ms. Bobo’s intellect, positivity, and strong sense of self-awareness were shared with those she came into contact with,” it read.
“Her compassion, her energy, and her standard of excellence have and will continue to be a conduit of positivity for those who were blessed to know her.”
Martin’s brother started a GoFundMe for his deceased sibling, saying the money will go toward “Markise’s funeral expenses, the service, and a tombstone to honor his memory.
“If there is anything left over, it will be set aside for his young daughter to support her future,” his brother added. Five others were injured, including at least three who were hospitalized in stable condition.
Several people were detained and multiple firearms were recovered from the scene. No arrests have been made.
