There’s been plenty of frustration to go around in Las Vegas following a dismal 3-14 campaign, which saw Maxx Crosby shut down for the Raiders’ final two games amid a lingering knee issue and the star defensive end walking out of the team’s facility over the decision.
As trade speculation surrounding Crosby reaches a fever pitch, The Athletic painted a picture of discord Wednesday, with Alex Guerrero, the Raiders’ wellness coordinator and a confidant of minority owner Tom Brady, an alleged source of contention.
“Like many players and coaches, Crosby was frustrated by the presence of Alex Guerrero,” Mike Silver wrote.

“… Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, purports to possess significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even indicating to staff members who don’t follow his instructions that their jobs may be at risk.”
The health guru, who has worked with Brady’s TB12 program, is “perceived to have a direct pipeline” to the Florida-based Fox NFL analyst, “limiting his in-person presence,” The Athletic reported. “Suffice it to say that there are trust issues permeating the Raiders’ training facility.”
Guerrero famously clashed with Bill Belichick during the future Hall of Fame QB’s time in New England.
In 2017, The Boston Globe reported that the Patriots coach revoked Guerrero’s credentials and on-field clearance.
Crosby, 28, has encountered many faces and personalities over his seven seasons in silver and black.
A fourth-round pick out of Eastern Michigan in 2019, Crosby emerged as one of the league’s best defensive ends, but has only cracked the postseason once in 2021.
With Las Vegas starting anew under first-year coach Klint Kubiak — and likely quarterback Fernando Mendoza — it’s expected the Raiders will move on from Crosby, possibly as early as this week.

Crosby, who will turn 29 before the start of the 2026 season, apparently has no shortage of suitors, with Sports Illustrated reporting Monday that teams such as the Cowboys, Bears, Bills, Patriots, Ravens, Eagles and Rams are “keeping tabs on his availability.”
Chicago is the current odds-on favorite to land Crosby.
The Raiders are eyeing a package similar to what Dallas received from the Packers for Micah Parsons last summer: two first-rounders and a quality player (Pro Bowler Kenny Clark).
Crosby registered 10 sacks and an interception across 15 games this season.
