Meet Gennings Dunker, whose mullet went viral at 2026 NFL Combine

Gennings Dunker, a 22-year-old offensive tackle for the Iowa Hawkeyes, left many mesmerized by his red-haired mullet at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Sunday.

NFL Network personality Rich Eisen deemed it “the greatest mullet in the history of the combine” while Dunker ran his 5.18-second 40-yard dash, and the broadcast showed it in slow motion.

Dunker, a projected second-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, measured at 6-foot-5 and 319 pounds this week and got plenty of camera time — and commentary — on his shoulder-length mullet.

“I mean, honestly this is what it’s built for,” Eisen said of the flow of Dunker’s hair during his workout at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“No matter what happens [in Indianapolis] in April, please know the most glorious dunker in this building, this year, is the guy on the screen.”

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert was also impressed with Dunker’s hair.

“Hang it in the Louvre,” Benkert said in an X post, including a video of him running drills in front of all 32 NFL teams.

Dunker has a “pro-ready frame but limited athleticism that is likely to push him inside to guard,” according to his draft profile on NFL.com.

He was a crucial part of Iowa’s offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award in 2025, a prize given annually to the top offensive line in college football.

Dunker started at right tackle in all 13 games, the last of which marked his 38th career start, and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season.

Dunker won two state titles with Lena-Winslow High School in Lena, Ill.
