Alysa Liu’s triumph at the Olympics came with quite the bonus — millions of social media followers.
The figure skating star jumped from 210,000 Instagram followers to a staggering 4.8 million after she earned two gold medals at this month’s Milano Cortina Winter Games.
The UCLA Bruin’s initial taste of first place came on Feb. 8, after she helped America win the team figure skating event.
She gained global notoriety, though, during her pursuit of her second gold on Feb. 19.
Liu dazzled during a free-skate performance to Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park Suite,” wowing spectators with her flawless moves, megawatt smile and signature hair.
Her routine vaulted her from third place to the top of the podium over Japanese stars Kaori Sakamoto and Ami Nakai.
The win marked USA’s first medal in women’s figure skating in two decades — and it was the first gold for the Red, White and Blue since 2002.
The 20-year-old’s bubbly persona and overall elation during her time at the Olympics had fans flocking to see more of her on social media, and her backstory — which stunningly featured a comeback from a two-year retirement — didn’t hurt either.
Liu acknowledged her massive new following with an Instagram post over the weekend that fittingly showcased a photo of her with a grin and her two new medals.
“These are for yall,” she wrote in the picture’s caption.
