Jake Paul has second surgery for broken jaw

Jake Paul is making headlines again — but this time not in an Olympic arena.

The YouTuber turned boxer announced Friday on Instagram that he had a second surgery on his broken jaw after being knocked out by Anthony Joshua in a fight in December.

“Had to get another jaw surgery. The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn’t rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt,” the caption read.

The post contained slides showing Paul’s most recent hospital stay, including showing off a metal contraption surrounding his mouth and a video of his fiancée — Olympic speedskater Jutta Leerdam — pushing him around in a wheelchair.

Paul’s first surgery came after Joshua knocked him out in the sixth round of their fight. Joshua gave him props afterward, especially after making it six rounds as an 8-to-1 underdog with a 27-pound weight and five-inch height disadvantage.

Paul predicted that his jaw was “definitely broken” in a post-match interview.

“I’m feeling good. That was fun. I love this sport and I had a blast,” Paul said after the fight, spitting up blood in the process.

The loss dropped Paul to 12-2, while Joshua’s record jumped to 29-4.

Paul confirmed his double broken jaw by posting a photo of his X-ray on X, joking that he could face Canelo Álvarez in 10 days.

He later uploaded a video to Instagram lip-syncing a line from “Ted” that says, “I’m a little f–ked up, but will you take care of me forever and ever?” His brother, Logan, stood on the side while Paul was in his hospital bed.

Recently, as Paul alluded to in his post, he made the trip to Milan to cheer on Leerdam in her Olympic events. Leerdam, representing the Netherlands, claimed gold in the 1,000-meter and silver in the 500-meter races. Paul was spotted in the stands bawling tears of joy after her 1,000m victory.

Though he will take time to recover, now from his second surgery, Paul emphasized that he will be back in the boxing ring with a clear mission.

“We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight,” Paul said. “I’m going for the cruiserweight world title.”
