Gov. Kathy Hochul will tap former City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to run as her No. 2 in the 2026 governor’s race, according to multiple sources

Adams is expected to join Hochul on the ticket for lieutenant governor just months after the longtime Queens Democrat finished her term leading the Big Apple’s legislative body.

Hochul picked Adams, who is not related to former Mayor Eric Adams, after other potential running mates, including Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and state Sen. Jamaal Bailey (D-Bronx), rejected the chance to run for the position.
