Tragic details have emerged in the death of the 22-year-old daughter of LA mayoral hopeful Austin Beutner, who was found alone on the side of the road before she was rushed to a hospital and died, The California Post has learned.
Emily Beutner appeared to be suffering a medical emergency when first responders were called to the intersection of Sierra Highway and Technology Drive in Palmdale around 12:10 a.m. on January 6.
Beutner was allegedly struggling to breathe, according to a law enforcement source.
“Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel rendered aid, and Beutner was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead,” according to a sheriff’s department press release.
Beutner’s cause of death is currently listed as “deferred” by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office pending further testing.
However, given the circumstances surrounding her death, LASD Homicide Bureau investigators have assumed control of the investigation — a standard practice.
“My family has experienced the unimaginable loss of our beloved daughter. We ask for privacy and your prayers at this time,” Austin Beutner previously told The Post of Emily’s death.
“I am profoundly saddened by the news of the tragic passing of Austin Beutner’s daughter. There is no way to describe the depth of pain experienced by parents who have lost a child. My heart is broken for the Beutner family, and I offer Austin, his wife Virginia, and their entire family my deepest condolences,” said Mayor Karen Bass.
“I will hold them close in my heart, and I am ready to assist the family with whatever they might need.”
