The remarkable longevity, stability and continuity John Harbaugh experienced in 18 years with the Ravens did not come without a certain amount of turnover on the coaching staffs he assembled during his reign in Baltimore. It comes with the territory and Harbaugh has navigated it far more successfully than most.
This is why he should be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the coordinators and position coaches he is bringing in as he embarks on a new challenge with the Giants.
His search for an offensive coordinator had to take a detour with the news that his top choice, Todd Monken, was hired as the Browns head coach but Harbaugh is well-versed in course corrections.
And this is why those who were beyond enthralled when the Giants wooing and pursuing resulted in Harbaugh as the 21st head coach in franchise history, although understandably attached to Carmen Bricillo as the offensive line coach, are advised to sit back and watch as Harbaugh puts together his staff in his own image. He has more than earned the right to get all this done the way he wants to get it done.
