Tucking into a tub full of Celebrations is a must-do at Christmas, but chocolate fans are disappointed to realise that one popular flavour is missing.
Celebrations are made up of an assorted mixture of mini-sized chocolate favourites, including Mars, Malteasers, Milky Way and Snickers, but the tubs no longer contain Galaxy Truffles.
The melt-in-the-mouth chocolates were once a staple flavour in Celebrations tubs having been a part of the mix since the brand’s launch in 1997, but they were discontinued by sweet-maker Mars in 2011 and replaced with Twix.
Disappointed Christmas shoppers digging into their chocolates early this year are only just realising the truffles no longer exist.
Writing in the Great British Memes subreddit, one user wrote: “Are you telling me I can no longer find this in today’s boxes of celebrations?”
Another fumed: “I never even realised. Now my day is ruined.”
A third wrote: “It was the second best one (after Malteasers of course). When did this happen?” A fourth added: “I thought something was missing from the Celebrations tubs!”
The UK selection also previously included Topics but these were removed in 2006 along with Twix, although Twix has subsequently been reintroduced.
The full chocolate line-up in Celebrations tubs now includes Maltesers Teaser, Mars, Milky Way, Snickers, Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel, Twix and Bounty.
In 2018, an online petition was launched by Sean Duggan to demand that Mars reintroduce the Galaxy Truffle but Mars maintained it had no plans to bring it back.
A spokesperson for Mars Wrigley Confectionery said at the time: “We replaced Galaxy Truffles with Twix in 2011 and Celebrations continues to be the UK’s best-selling chocolate tub. We’re always interested in hearing our fans’ views on the products they love, but we don’t have any current plans to bring back Galaxy Truffles.”
But people are still fuming that Galaxy Truffles are missing from Celebrations, with several users on X (formerly Twitter) demanding their return in response to a Martin Lewis tweet asking: “What ‘Just Change It Back To How It Was’ laws do you want to see?”
One user wrote: “Return Galaxy Truffles to the Celebrations tubs.”
Another said: “Galaxy truffles to be returned to celebrations tubs.”
While the truffles won’t be making a return to Celebrations tubs any time soon, it is possible to get your Galaxy Truffles fix by buying a standalone box of the chocolates.
You can buy a 190g box online for £5, or a 195g assorted box which includes smooth chocolate, caramel and salted caramel flavours.
