SEATTLE — They’d been doing it with smoke and mirrors for much of this season, surviving and advancing against long odds with a litany of injuries mounting and a roster in constant flux.

The end finally arrived for the game 2025 edition of the 49ers on Saturday night in a stinging 41-6 loss to the No. 1-seeded Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoff inside ear-splitting Lumen Field packed with 68,579 fans.

The 49ers, the No. 6 seed, finally succumbed to their shorthanded issues and now go home for an offseason of healing — physically and emotionally.

The Seahawks (15-3) stay home and will host the winner of Sunday’s divisional playoff game between the No. 2-seeded Bears and No. 5-seeded Rams in Chicago in the NFC Championship next Sunday.
