Former NBA star Lamar Odom was reportedly arrested and booked for driving under the influence early Saturday morning in Las Vegas, TMZ reported.
Along with the DUI charge, the 46-year-old was hit with two traffic violations for driving over 41 miles per hour over the set speed limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane.
Per TMZ, Odom is still in police custody at the time of writing.
The incident isn’t a first for Odom.
The two-time NBA champion has publicly struggled with alcohol and drug abuse, and he was arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles in 2013.
In October 2015, Odom had a big scare when he nearly died of an overdose before his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian rushed to the scene and found him unconscious at Nevada’s Love Ranch brothel.
From there, the Quenns native went into a coma and later claimed he did not willingly take the drugs he took that night and has accused either the brothel’s owner Dennis Hof or someone working for Hof for being responsible for the incident.
Later on, after recovering, Odom admitted in a 2021 Facebook Live interview with “Addiction Talk” that he was “really hurt” and “embarrassed” after coming to following that night in 2013.
Odom, who had a 14-year NBA career, has been open about his sobriety in recent years.
In 2021, he admitted to taking ketamine to aid his sobriety.
“I went to rehab and did some other things, but ketamine came into my life at the right time,” Odom said on “Good Morning America” at the time.
“I’m feeling amazing,” he added. “I’m alive, I’m sober, I’m happy.”
