Prince Harry responded to the wild rumours about his and Meghan Markle’s relationships, in what has been branded a “strange” decision by royal commentators.
Taking to the stage last week at the coveted New York Times DealBook Online Summit with host Andrew Ross Sorkin, Harry opened up about different areas of his life.
He said: “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?”
The comments were a topic of discussion on The Royals podcast with The Times royal editor Kate Mansey and Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkah.
Kate questioned why he has finally decided to share his thoughts and even suggested that it was a ‘strange’ thing to do, saying: “I think it’s interesting that he’s addressing those rumours publicly, it seems like quite a strange thing to do. I think he’s rattled by a lot of what’s written about him and he always has been.
“It will take a PR expert to decide if that was a good move or not. If it’s nonsense, just don’t address it publicly because you’re creating a story of your own making.”
As the Prince approaches his fifth year living in the US, there has been much talk as to whether he would ever decide to return to his home country.
But he seemed to pour cold water on those rumours, saying: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here. It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.
“I feel as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me. To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK — it’s huge. That is a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful for that.”
The Duke and Duchess shocked the nation in January 2020 when they announced that they would be ending their roles as acting Royals and move to the US, where they have brought up their children Archie and Lilibet.
Harry was joined by a whole host of fellow celebrities at the New York event, with tennis star Serena Williams and Amazon owner, Jeff Bezos also in attendance.
